ABOUT ME

Dr. Vinod Belwanshi is currently associated as an Honorary Research Fellow in the School of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Glasgow, UK. In his postdoctoral research work, he was working in the development of a microelectromechanical systems (MEMS) gravimeter. He has also worked at the state-of-the-art laboratory, Centre for Excellence in Nano Electronics at the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay, Mumbai, India as a Sr. Project Research Scientist in the field of micro/nano electronic devices.

Dr. Belwanshi is working in the field of MEMS technology-based sensors and actuators since August 2013. He has successfully demonstrated a temperature compensation technique for the MEMS gravimeter that has the potential for a patent and it is under review at the university. He has also contributed in terms of the design, development, and prototype of the piezoresistive pressure sensors using MEMS technology. The outcome of his Ph.D. research was three prototypes of MEMS piezoresistive pressure sensors fabricated using three distinct fabrication technologies. The MEMS pressure sensors fabricated using silicon-on-insulator, diffuesd piezoresistors, and polycrystalline silicon piezoresistors technologies have the potential to deploy in high temperature, high radiation, and high temperature-high radiation environments respectively. The temperature-induced effect was reduced to ~50 % as compared to conventional commercially available MEMS piezoresistive pressure sensors. He was also successful to deliver a rad-hard MESM piezoresistive pressure sensor.

His current research interests are analytical modeling, design, simulation, fabrication, and characterization of MEMS technology-based sensors and actuators. Currently, he is engaged in a similar field that offers great challenges and use of cutting-edge technologies to pursue his post Ph.D. career.

Dr. Belwanshi has completed Ph.D. research work at Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, Mumbai, India under the aegis of Homi Bhabha National Institute, Mumbai, India. He has carried out the fabrication of a designed pressure sensor at CSIR-Central Electronics Engineering Research Institute, Pilani, India. Prior to joining the PhD program, he was working as a trainee engineer at Atos India Pvt. Ltd. Pune, India. He has completed master technology in instrumentation from Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, India. He has also served at CSIR-National Geophysical Research Institute, Hyderabad, India as a Project Assistant and worked in the field of seismic data acquisition, calibration and maintenance of geophysical instruments. He has completed his B.E. in Electronics and Instrumentation from Shri GS Institute of Technology and Science, Indore, India.
